    • Holds up to repeated washings and never needs dry cleaning
    • Absorbs dye easily and retains colour well

    • An environmentally friendly alternative to other fabrics.

    WASHING AND CARE

Hemp clothing is easy to care for and tolerates hot water temperatures well. (Wash cold to minimize impacts on the environment.) Hemp clothing can be air dried quickly.

Tough food and dirt stains, no problem. Let some (eco-friendly) laundry soap sit on the spot for a few minutes before washing.

Depending upon its fabrication, your hemp clothing may need to be touched up with a hot iron. As hemp grows softer with laundering and wear, ironing becomes less and less critical. (Wrinkles in the fabric can usually be dealt with by simply spritzing them with water.)

WHY IS HEMP FABRIC BETTER THAN ALTERNATIVE FABRICS?

  1. Cotton needs about 50 percent more water per season than hemp, which can grow with little irrigation.
  2. Growing cotton accounts for a significant portion of the pesticides and insecticides sprayed on the world’s crops. Because of this extensive use, cotton has negative impacts on human health, surrounding waterways and worker safety.
  3. Synthetic fabrics like Nylon, Polyester, Acrylic and Spandex are made from plastics and can take up to 200 years to decompose.
  4. Polyester and other petroleum-based synthetic fabrics take a great deal of energy to extract the oil required to make it resulting in a huge amount of carbon dioxide emission

HEMPS ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

  • Unlike other fabrics hemp will eventually break down when disposed of.
  • Hemp grows rapidly and requires little water, and no pesticides or herbicides.
  • When grown deep roots anchor and aerate the soil.
  • When harvested the field residue can return up to 60% of the nutrients taken from the soil.
  • Hemp produces more fibre per acre than trees, cotton or flax, making the plant very sustainable.
